5 STAGES OF INNOVATION

Innovation and development processes often are intrinsically complex: Too many paths to tread, plenty of open questions and decisions to take, fuzzy focus, time pressure. In order to plan better and keep track of your development activities, we recommend to structuring your project according to the following “5 stages of innovation”.

These “5 stages of innovation” are consecutive stages, but not one-way roads. Findings and conclusions from more advanced phases may lead to new ideas, and sometimes unexpected problems can be addressed and solved by going back one or two stages.

Sometimes it makes sense to pre-draw certain aspects and questions of later phases, but we recommend not skipping phases ignoring critical milestones.
